Hello, captain! Welcome to Paralibrium!
I am a dragonling, one of the many units you will be summoning in your battles with other captains! Allow me to teach you the basics so that you can begin your conquest of the land!

Hand Selection Phase
This is the first screen you see when the game begins! You will also see it at the start of each round. The purpose of this screen is to choose which unit you wish to summon or select a spell to cast instead! The stats of each unit are displayed in the panel to the right as you hover over them. You merely click a unit to select it. The unit will appear on the pedestal in the bottom right to indicate what is currently selected!

Watch out for the timer ticking down on the left! You only have a certain amount of time to choose your unit! The Reveal spell will be chosen for you if you do not select.

The percentage below each unit indicates the chances of successfully summoning it! Summon spells are notoriously fickle and will fizzle out often. Even the mightiest captains have been unable to overcome this reliably. The stronger the unit is, the tougher it is to successfully summon it to the field.

Rather than summon a unit, you can decide to create an illusion instead! Merely select Illusion as your casting type before you hit submit! Illusions will always work, as they are simple spells. An illusion will act similar in every way to a real unit. Even in battle! Perceptions in the mind are strong and your opponents will take damage just the same from them. The only difference is that they are just as easily destroyed as they are created by the Reveal spell. Reveal is the first spell every Captain learns to defend themselves from illusions!

Some units have special abilities. You can see their icons on the bottom left of the screen. Simply select a unit and hover over them to see what they do.

Summon Phase
Once all players have chosen a unit to summon, the game advances to the summon phase. Captains will begin an attempted summon of their selected unit one at a time. Simply select the blue square on the spot where you would like to summon your unit. Once all captains have attempted a summon, the game proceeds to the movement phase.

Movement Phase
In this phase, it is time to move your armies around the field! Captains move in the same order that they summoned their units. Look at that! Our bandit summon was successful. Let's click him so that we can move him! Since our bandit only has a speed of one, he can only move one space. Click the green arrow in the direction you want him to move. It's as easy as that!

Combat also takes place during the movement phase. It is the same as moving. Just move next to an enemy unit and select him to attack. Note that once you move next to an enemy unit, you will become engaged and unable to move further! In this screen, one player's Phoenix is able to attack the other players' Minotaur! Click the crossed swords to initiate the attack. You will have a percent chance of defeating the enemy unit based on the strength of your attacking unit and the defense of the unit you are attacking. It will show the odds of winning this battle in the dialog box at the top of the screen when you hover over the enemy unit. If you successfully defeat an enemy unit, you will move onto the tile he was occupying and be unable to move further.

Do you notice how Phoenix also has plenty of movement squares with wings? This is because Phoenix has the speical ability of Flying! Flying units do not become engaged when they move next to enemy units. They are also able to move over multiple squares in one swoop, even over obstacles on the ground like trees and rocks!

If you don't want to attack or are done moving, click your unit again at any time to deselect him. Once all your units have moved, your turn will end automatically. You could also click the End Turn button on the bottom right at any time to end it sooner. It will then be the next Captain's turn.

Alignment & Morality
The world of Paralibrium is always in flux. Each time a unit is summoned, the magical forces involved in the summon affect the very nature of the battlefield. A unit's alignment and morality will slightly change the field's alignment and morality. You can see the world's alignment and morality in the upper left of the screen. The number will indicate the strength of the alignment and the color will indicate the direction. Magical and mundane creatures are pitted against each other, as are Good and Evil creatures. If the field is in the favor of a unit's alignment and morality then it makes it easier to summon that unit!

Victory
So how does a Captain achieve victory on the battlefield!? Why, that's simple! Destroy all the other Captains! Paralibrium allows up to 25 Captains to vie for domination over a single battlefield. And don't worry about a Captain's army...once he is gone, his magical force will no longer be in effect to hold his units to the battlefield and they will all vanish along with him.

That covers all the basics! Now go out and conquer the land! You might even be able to summon my father, the king...if you're lucky!
